  • Former Intercontinental and Women’s Champion Chyna passed away this week at the age of 45. Her death is being treated as a possible overdose. Her manager is reportedly looking to donate her brain for CTE research. WWE posted a collection of her career highlights on Youtube, the first acknowledgment of her in years. You can read my tribute to her here.
  • Samoa Joe won the NXT Championship from Finn Balor at an NXT house show in Lowell, Massachusetts, fueling speculation that Balor would be joining former Bullet Club stablemates Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows on the main roster. The night he lost the title, he told a small group of fans as he boarded the tour bus, “See you Monday.” Later, however, he would claim in a promo that he was staying in NXT.
  • Conor McGregor made waves when he seemingly announced his retirement on Twitter and was immediately linked to WWE. However, he looks to simply be in a dispute with the UFC and any signs pointing to his signing with WWE is pure speculation.
  • Dave Meltzer revealed that Bray Wyatt will likely miss only six weeks due to his injury.
  • The Payback card is as follows: Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, The Miz vs. Cesaro for the Intercontinental Championship, Charlotte, with Ric Flair in her corner vs Natalya with Bret Hart in her corner for the WWE Women’s Championship, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. The Vaudevillains in the Tag Team Tournament finals, Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose, and Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens.
